Countesthorpe Judo Club was started in April 2002 by Jim Oram, Paula Oram & Kathy Tranter. We strongly believe that, by following the principles of judo, we have developed a club with a strong sense of community, where all are welcome. We actively encourage parents to be involved, to help create a family atmosphere. Countesthorpe Judo Club is non-profit making and everyone involved with the Club is a volunteer and all money collected is used for the benefit of members.

Countesthorpe Judo Club is a member of the British Judo Council and abides by the rules of the British Judo Council (BJC)

What is BJC Judo?
‘BJC Judo’ is a concept of, pure, clean, judo within Jigoro Kano’s principle of minimum effort and maximum efficiency.

‘BJC Judo’ gives everyone an opportunity of aspiring to achieve ones highest and full potential in life.

‘BJC Judo’ in summary:
Is not about ‘quick fixes’ or easy results.
Success is not measured in the number of wins you achieve, but the way in which you, as a judo person, strive for excellence and improve yourself and your judo throughout your whole life.
We strive for excellence by demonstrating total control, pure, clean judo and a desire for the most efficient use of our energy.
Manners, Integrity, Humility and Discipline are all worthy attributes of a BJC Judoka.
